Your next Mumbai-Bengaluru trip could involve fewer hours staring out of a train window. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is reportedly expected to make its inaugural run on November 1, 2026, coinciding with Karnataka Rajyotsava. However, Indian Railways is yet to officially confirm the launch date or announce when regular services will begin.

The new sleeper train promises a faster overnight rail connection between two of India’s busiest cities, with the journey expected to take around 16 hours. That’s roughly six hours less than the 22 hours taken by existing direct trains on the route, giving passengers a little more time back in their day.

As per reports, the train is expected to feature 16 coaches, comprising 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach, with a total capacity of 823 berths. The sleeper configuration is designed for passengers who would rather catch some shut-eye than spend the night counting railway stations.

What are the timings, cost, and stations for the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train?

Timings and schedule

The proposed Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train service is expected to cover the distance between Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai – approximately 1,118 kilometers. This journey is expected to take around 16 hours, saving around six hours of travel time between the two cities.

As per the proposed timetable reported by The Times of India, the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat train is expected to depart from Bengaluru at 7:50pm and arrive in Mumbai at 11:55am the next day.

Similarly, the train is expected to leave Mumbai at 8:10pm and reach Bengaluru at 11:55am the next morning on the return journey.

The service is expected to operate six days a week, but the final schedule is yet to be confirmed by Indian Railways.

The train halts at these stations...

The expected routes for Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat trains include halts at Kalyan, Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Guntakal and Anantapur.

If you're travelling between Mumbai and Bengaluru, these halts could make the service useful for journeys to these destinations along the way, too.

Ticket prices

If you’re looking forward to budget your journey with these trains, then the estimated fare could reportedly range between ₹2,600 and ₹4,250, depending on the travel class:  AC three-tier, AC two-tier, or AC first-class. These figures, the final fare structure, booking details, or regular service dates aren’t officially confirmed by Indian Railways yet.
