The colourful new all-day café brings Veronica's coffee, inventive vegetarian plates and the brand's signature sweets to the suburbs

If you've spent any time in Borivali lately, you'll know the city's F&B action isn't confined to Bandra or SoBo anymore. The MaKaBo belt (Malad, Kandivali, Borivali) has become one of Mumbai's most exciting neighbourhoods for new restaurant openings, and the latest to join that party is Bombay Sweet Shop, which has opened its first Borivali outpost as an all-day café, mithai shop and retail store.
The new store's bright and whimsical, with kulfi-inspired chequered floors, loud signs and fun artwork – much like its other outlets, but with little nods to the Borivali location (motifs of wild beasts and creatures are reminiscent of Sanjay Gandhi National Park nearby!). The cafè's got an indoor plus outdoor section, with the biophilic layer outside done by Ugaoo.
The menu's completely vegetarian and playfully blurs the lines between street food classics and global formats. Expect contemporary dishes like the khatti meethi aloo chaat, made with thousand-layered potatoes, and the chokha thepla taco, which pairs Gujarati methi theplas with smoked tomato bharta and crispy bhindi. Bandra regulars will also rejoice in finding a curated selection of Veronica’s iconic sandwiches, including the truffle-laden taming the (mu)shroom melt on signature Dutch crunch bread. Other stuff that looks exciting: the pav bhaji porter house rolls, kulcha margherita, samosa kadhi chaat, and more.
And of course, their desserts. Their OG gulab jamun churros are a must-have, as well as the whipped chocolate caramel slice, dark chocolate rasgulla tiramisu, jalebi waffle, and innovative mithai. Bhujiya paglus, you know what to get, right?
The beverage programme at Bombay Sweet Shop Borivali pairs modern artisanal café culture with nostalgic sweet shop flavours. All te coffee's done by sister brand Veronica's, including cinnamon-dusted Spanish lattes, indulgent cold coffees, elegant almond matcha lattes, fizzy lychee lemonades, cola kombuchas, and more. Need something completely crazy? Try the matcha raspberry falooda.
The first experience store opened in Byculla in 2020. Over the years, they've expanded their café+retail concept to Bandra, Lower Parel, Oshiwara, Kala Ghoda, Juhu, and now in Borivali.
