The 10,000 sq. ft. flagship space brings an on-site brewery and a global comfort-food menu to Dadar west in Mumbai

Mumbai's got a brand new address for the craft beer enthusiasts – and just in time for winter brunch, we say.
Meet Madwater Brewery, a sprawling new taproom in Dadar that opened on October 16, bringing freshly brewed beer, beer-friendly bites and plenty of room to settle in for the afternoon. Spread across 10,000 sq. ft., the flagship space by founders Abhijit Rao and Raj Rai takes the grain-to-glass journey seriously, with an on-site brewery, bold flavours and a design-led space where music and mood matter just as much as what’s in your glass.
The design here may be another reason to check out the place – because Madwater marries Mumbai's Art Deco heritage with Brutalist leanings, and is said to take cues from the city's relationship with water. On display is a 32-foot ceiling, cantilevered terrace, and loads of heavy structural steel everywhere.
This latest opening comes hot on the heels of craft beer giant Doolally's brand new outlet in Chembur. Mumbai's craft beer scene is indeed alive and kicking.

At the heart of Madwater Brewery is the Fermentarium: a range of around 15 beers brewed in 300-litre batches. The lineup spans 2.8% to 6.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), allowing options for easy-going sippers and adventurous craft beer consumers. What's included in the range? Dark Ritual, a stout with roasted, coffee-like depth with notes of dark chocolate; No Non-sense Pils, a crisp golden lager; and Smoke Break, an ale made with beechwood-smoked malt bringing smoky notes.
Find dishes moving between familiar food and global influences, with beer playing a star role at the table. On the menu, Catch of the Tap features fish battered in the in-house beer and served with chips, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger pairs crispy chicken with duck sauce and gochujang mayo. Among these are Mad Fried Chicken with peanut sauce, Tokyo Tap Yakitori, soy-glazed pork belly, plus New York-style pizzas made with 48-hour-hydrated dough. Elsewhere on the menu, diners can explore Indian flavours like Nawabi Galouti, Rajma Royale and Biryani Barrel.
Madwater plans to introduce a second phase that's a little more customer friendly: 'Brew Your Own Beer' – an experience inviting visitors to get closer to the brewing process.
