The best case to be made for Backyard Brew’s that they serve beer cocktails from breakfast on, plus matcha at the same time. The outdoor seating’s pleasant on most days, and the menu (mostly comfort food) is updated frequently.
The mushroom kale bagel sandwich with a giant slice of cheese on top is soft and moreish and comes with a side of salad and hash browns. The club sandwich is loaded and kind of… reminds you of your childhood. The gravy fries here are unusual, I’ll admit, but quite a popular breakfast choice here, and they can be served with egg and toast.
Speaking of which, the cinnamon rolls and carrot cake are the owner’s own endearing family recipes. They make nice companions to something that’s most popular with the work-from-home crowd – the coffee. It packs a strong sucker punch. There are lactose-free and vegan options, and the iced cafe latte itself, interestingly, is made with coconut water – giving it a light, creamy feel, topped with just a bit of coconut cream.
