Time Out says

Spread across roughly 10,000 sq ft on the ground floor and basement of the same building as Broadway, Foodstories is where gourmet dreams collide with grocery runs.

Started by Avni and Ashni Biyani, this store’s got smart spatial planning, dedicated lanes, and curated aisles, making the Bandra outpost feel effortlessly cohesive, and its strongest play yet is on the F&B front. Split into three concepts, That Grocery Cafe, That Bev Bar, and That Bake Shop, all sit on the ground floor, working in tandem to win over shoppers, snackers, and serious diners alike.

The F&B zone seats around 20-22 across a scatter of low tables, a high table, and a window counter, so heads up: big groups eyeing the communal table might have to wait it out.

At That Grocery Cafe, Bandra's cafe culture meets artisanal retail, with ingredients pulled straight off the store shelves and into the kitchen. This is easily the most ingredient-forward, globally-inspired menu of the year in the city so far. Nothing feels over-engineered; instead, the food leans into the natural character of each ingredient while playing with unexpected pairings.

The spread moves from breakfast and eggs to salads, bowls, handhelds, small plates and mains, each dish tagged with its place of inspiration: American mac & cheese, Texan bbq wings, Scottish stacked pancakes, Turkish eggs, Burmese khao suey, Mexican chipotle, and Indian highway-style bowls, with customisable and kid-friendly options thrown in too.

I went straight for the herby chicken tenders, served with a coriander-mint-dill dip; juicy inside, with a satisfying crunch on the outside. The crispy avo with chipotle stole the show though, with panko-fried avocado that actually works. Who knew? The hot honey and mustard chicken croissant stack rounded things off as a meal in its own right, with layered flavours and fries that stayed crisp till the last bite.

That Bev Bar – I’m calling it – is set to become Bandra's next big sipping spot, taking hydration seriously with options like ABC-G, citrus cooler 2.0, tender coconut, and mango tango reloaded, alongside matcha, bubble teas, chai, and smoothies. But it's the signatures – kunafa cloud latte, yuzu espresso tonic, coconut cloud, and malted mocha – that really elevate things.

We tried the kunafa cloud latte (creamy, nutty, addictive), the coconut cloud (refreshingly light with a sweet finish), and the mango creamsicle shake made with Alphonso mangoes and a hit of orange zest. But the surprise here was the peanut butter popcorn shake, basically a PB&J without the bread.

Over at That Bake Shop, helmed by award-winning pastry educator Chef Dean Rodrigues, live baking runs through the day. Expect banoffee danish, raspberry rocher croissant, tiramisu kouign-amann, and chocolate sesame brioche on the sweet side, with savouries like Mexican lamb danish, Kerala egg pepper fry puff, zaatar spiced paneer twist, and chicken 65 danish. The cookies and tea cakes are non-negotiable too.

Downstairs, where the shopping happens, a Tea Library offers live tastings and a cheese counter invites you to graze your way through the board, turning even a quick grocery run into a curated tasting experience.

'That Grocery Cafe celebrates eating, That Bev Bar celebrates drinking, and That Bake Shop celebrates craftsmanship. Each concept stands independently, yet together they create a destination where guests can spend an entire day discovering flavours, learning about ingredients, and building new rituals around food and drink,' says co-founder Avni Biyani. Well, that says it all.

Time Out tip: The shopping carts come with built-in cup holders, so you can sip and shop without missing a beat.
