Ah, the Olympics. The sporting event of all sporting events holds a unique place in our global culture, from arousing unexpected feelings of patriotism to being brought to tears by the athletes’ camaraderie, hard work and resilience.

Thankfully, the next Olympics is just round the corner. The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris between July 26, 2024, and August 11, 2024, and we’ve got the lowdown on how to attend – without spending a cent.

While there are ways to get your hands on Paris 2024 Olympics tickets by entering the ballot, not everyone who puts their name in the hat will be successful. So, if you're dying to experience the upcoming Olympic Games in person, consider the following options.

Here is everything we know about how you can attend the Paris Olympics for free.

How can I volunteer at the Paris Olympics?

While volunteers will still have to pay for their flights and accommodation, they will get a priceless behind-the-scenes look, and will get to attend the 2024 Olympic Games for free.

From guiding spectators and welcoming athletes to assisting with transportation schedules and distributing equipment, volunteers play a vital role in keeping the games going.

If you’ll be aged 18 or over on January 1, 2024, you can legally travel to France, and you are fluent in French or English, then you can apply to become a volunteer before the May 3, 2023 deadline. The organising committee will then review the applications over the summer and notify the successful applicants between September and December 2023.

It's important to note that you’ll only get to experience the parts of the Olympics you're assigned to work for. So, there is no guarantee about attending specific events or matches.

Which sports at the Paris Olympics are open for the public to see?

Those who want to catch the events for free will be elated to hear that some of the open-air sports will be wholly or partially visible to the public from the streets of Paris or along the famous banks of the Seine.

These include marathon running, road cycling, rowing, open-water swimming, and the triathlon. Canoeing-kayaking, BMX racing, mountain biking, and golf will offer spectators the chance to watch for free, too!

Plus, those in Marseille and Tahiti will get the opportunity to watch the sailing and surfing events, respectively.
