Pi Day 2015

Time Out says

This Pi Day comes only once in a lifetime... Orlando Science Center celebrates Pi Day — the annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi) — with programs, activities and you guessed it: pie! *** *** *** ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: • Crafty Corner — Get creative with circle art and pizza pi crafts • Pie Walk — Walk around the circle to music and when it stops, hope that you’re standing at the announced number to win a slice of pie • Wheel of Science — Spin the wheel and take part in special math-, circle- and pi-related activities • Dr. Dare’s Lab — Engage in an ice cream-making workshop *** *** *** Pi Day is observed on March 14 every year since 3, 1 and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form and the date reads 3/14 in month/day date format. 2015 is even more significant because written in sequential time format, the date 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 follows a longer sequence of pi (3.14152653). This won’t happen again until 2115. DID YOU KNOW? • In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of National Pi Day. • 3.14 backwards appears as PIE!
