Established in 1987 to house the substantial trove of tea utensils assembled by restaurant magnate Teiichi Yuki, founder of the Kitcho group of ultra-high-end kaiseki establishments, the private Yuki Museum lords over several works of national importance. Bowls, ladles and various decorative artefacts from the eighth century to the Edo period (1603–1867) form the backbone of the collection, from which items are selected for three or four special exhibitions every year. If tea gatherings are your thing, the museum is well worth seeking out.
