Get ready for a soulful weekend of rhythm and riffs as the Sakai Blues Festival returns for its 10th anniversary edition. What began as a small community gathering has grown into one of Osaka prefecture’s most popular annual music events.
This year’s lineup features more than 230 acts – from local legends to rising stars – performing on the main stages in front of Sakai City Hall and the Sakai Public Office Complex, as well as in a handful of bars and cafés across Sakai City.
Sakai’s deep-rooted love for the blues can be traced back to 1975, with the opening of Sam’s Record Shop. Venues like House of Jazz, founded by one of the festival’s key figures, continue to carry that legacy, thus cementing Sakai as one the region’s top blues destinations.
