Don’t let the eclectic surroundings – traditional Japanese architectural details co-existing with European antique furniture in a 100-year-old wooden house – distract you from the star of the show at this ‘smoke restaurant’: Inada Shoten’s smoked wagyu is a dish for the ages, prepared at your table in an iron pot and served with a selection of smoked condiments from miso to wasabi.
Even drinks get the smoke treatment here, with the shochu and other types of liquor the restaurant uses for its highballs and cocktails put through the aroma-enhancing process in advance.
You’ll find Inada Shoten behind a corner in a narrow alleyway just south of JR Shin-Fukushima Station.
