Silk reeling was a major industry in the town of Tarui in the early twentieth century, and it was in this period that many silk mills built with locally produced red bricks were built in the area. One of these historic structures houses Rojica, a multi-use facility that started out as a shop dealing in Southeast Asian furniture and sundries but now also encompasses a café and an event space hosting everything from concerts to art exhibitions. Their cream cheese brownies alone make a visit worthwhile, and the calm space lends itself well to a quiet afternoon break.
