Bringing the flavours of seaside Fukui prefecture to one of the busiest bits of Osaka, this casual soba eatery has been doing a roaring trade in the basement of the Semba Center Building since 2003. The Fukui-born owner turns seafood and buckwheat from his home region into light, figure-friendly dishes from sashimi to coarse-ground soba made fresh every day, attracting a diverse clientele for both lunch and dinner. Udoan’s plentiful selection of Fukui sake can also be paired with specialities such as game meat, available in dishes including a moreish boar and deer hot pot.
