This cosy record shop in the city of Higashi-Osaka started life as an online store in 2007, and opened a brick-and-mortar location two years later. The 33-square-metre space is filled to the brim with CDs, cassette tapes, vinyl, T-shirts, badges, books and much more. Eclectic is probably the best word to describe their selection, with records by veteran DJ Hiroshi Kawanabe rubbing shoulders with ’70s Tokyo punk and new wave. If you’re new to Japanese music, ask the staff for recommendations.
One corner has a section dedicated to the owner’s own band, Masterpeace, who in July 2022 put out a new album together with the Fukuoka-based outfit Starter under the Nagoya label Juke Boxxx Records. The album cover was designed by artist ESOW, who’s known for his Japanese-style graffiti.
The shop closes irregularly, so check their Instagram account before your visit.
