The International Communication Center for People with Disabilities, aka Big-I, in the city of Sakai offers a range of facilities and services catering to people of all abilities. The Center contains a fully barrier-free hotel, a restaurant with braille menus where meals can be customised to meet guests’ needs, a conference hall and a number of study rooms.
Additionally, Big-I runs an arts and culture programme that organises exhibitions, talks, workshops and more both at the facility itself and at other venues across Osaka prefecture. The Center works to lower the hurdles for people with disabilities to participate in the arts, lobbying organisers and institutions across the country to improve accessibility and providing various consultation services.
