Famous nationwide for its Bond brand woodworking glue, adhesives manufacturer Konishi started life as Konishiya in Osaka in 1870. In 1903, the Konishi family built a grand home and company headquarters along Sakaisuji Avenue in Senba. Some 50 people lived and worked in the building, which now houses a museum detailing the history of the company.
Most of the display text is in Japanese only, but no language ability is needed to appreciate the handsome, heritage-listed building. The kitchen, where meals were prepared for the entire workforce, and the ornate tatami-mat reception rooms are especially worth a look.
Entrance is free, but note that an advance reservation is required to get in.
