Go orange-picking with the kids at this vast hillside orchard way out in eastern Osaka prefecture. The fruits ripen in October and November, attracting visitors from throughout the Kansai region. Paying the entrance fee entitles you to eat as many mikan as you like, and there’s no need to worry about coming up empty-handed: there are more than 10,000 trees here to pick from.
Besides foraging for fruit, kids can enjoy activities such as digging for sweet potatoes, climbing through an obstacle course, and playing at a hilltop maze. There are barbecue facilities on the premises and ingredients are sold on site.
A free shuttle service runs between Kaminotaishi Station and the orchard throughout the picking season.
