One of Philadelphia’s hottest tourist destinations is getting a stylish new hotel this August.
Hotel Anna & Bel, a new 50-room full-service boutique hotel by local real estate development firm Foyer Project, will debut at 1401 E Susquehanna Avenue.
Fishtown has rapidly redeveloped in the last decade, expanding to a lively music, art, and culinary scene that continues to attract new properties. Hotel Anna & Bel is a nod to the hotel’s former women’s asylum history and the cross streets of Susquehanna (Anna) and Belgrade (Bel) on which it sits.
The design team worked closely with the Preservation Society of Philadelphia to restore the building’s original features, like the grand staircase in the entry, exposed brick walls, fireplaces in select rooms, and wood beams lining the ceilings. Local Philly touches are also evident throughout the hotel, including art collection pieces curated by Old City’s Paradigm Art Advisory, hotel robes designed by Printfresh, mini bar selections from Fishtown’s Riverwards Produce, plant life and landscaping by City Planter, and books from neighborhood bookstore, Ulisis.
Amenities include an interior courtyard, a heated outdoor pool, and rooms featuring terraces overlooking the courtyard oasis. There are also creative spaces (such as a lounge space) and ways to unwind, like a private treatment room, where guests can book treatments with outside practitioners, a lower-level fitness center featuring an infrared sauna, and a yoga and meditation deck.
Chef and restaurateur Tyler Akin will oversee dining and drink offerings at Bastia, a daytime cafe that transforms into a seasonal Mediterranean restaurant at night. It opens on August 15, and reservations are now available via OpenTable. Caletta will be Bastia's intimate sister lounge, serving bright signature cocktails and small Italian bites.
Reservations are live at AnnaandBel.com. Off-site parking is available for guests.
