With a lineup of 60 films made by black directors from around the world, the annual BlackStar Film Festival gives screen time to the cultures and experiences of Africans and African-Americans. Screenings ($12 a pop, $150 for a festival pass) take place all over the city, including World Cafe Live in University City and Johnny Brenda’s in Fishtown.
