Join the Fairmount Park Conservancy for a 4 mile spring hike! Starting at the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Education Center we'll hike upstream, exploring various natural areas and taking a brief look at environmental restoration projects of the past, present, and future. We'll pass relics that tell of Cobbs Creek's historic mills and rural past even as we hear the rumbling of the El, seeing how the urban and natural landscapes coalesce. With a view of the center city skyline midway at the apex of the hike we'll return to the environmental education center for some light refreshments. Luke Rhodes has been active in the restoration of natural lands in Philadelphia's park system for the last 7 years. Working to enhance the biodiversity and function of meadows, wetlands, woods and streams, he enjoys introducing groups to the ecological nuances of the park system.
