The mystics of Sfat, who brought us the service of Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming Shabbat through psalms and songs) encouraged their students to greet the Sabbath with intention and with delight. This is the kavannah (intention) of our Nava Tehilla service. This musical service incorporates traditional liturgy, beloved congregational melodies, Mizrahi/Sephardi melodies, and contemporary tunes to facilitate a meaningful and joyful experience of Shabbat. “Nava Tehilla” means “beautiful praise.” Through song and melody, prayer and meditation, we aim to bring these words to life and to uplift our hearts and souls.
