Clinton Street Theater says
It's time to break out your Mardi Gras finest and celebrate Fat Tuesday with a night of film, music and great southern food! Costumes and masks are welcome as we kick off an evening to celebrate living it up before Lent.

Aside from the jamabalaya, gumbo and cornbread we'll have on hand (for a small donation), we'll be screening two classic documentaries from the late great Les Blank, who was famous for his films about Southern culture.

DRY WOOD is one of a number of Les Blank's critically acclaimed films on Lousiana life and culture--a glimpse into the life, food, and Mardi Gras celebrations of black Creoles in French Louisiana, featuring the stories and music of "Bois Sec" Ardoin and Canray Fontenot.

ALWAYS FOR PLEASURE is an intense insider’s portrait of New Orleans’ street celebrations and unique cultural gumbo: Second-line parades, Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest. Features live music from Professor Longhair, the Wild Tchoupitoulas, the Neville Brothers and more. This glorious, soul-satisfying film is among Blank’s special masterworks.
