Sister Outsider Presents: How We See Things Uncovering Stereotypes And Bias
More Less
PSU Women's Resource Center says
Privilege and oppression insist on the degradation of certain identities and ways of being. This degradation is a process of “othering;” it asserts that if you do not fit neatly within social constructs then you do not belong or are less than. We will focus on how perception, stereotypes and bias work to inform our view of ourselves and the world around us. We will deconstruct our relationship to identity, explore media bias, and uncover explicit and implicit forms of oppression. This workshop expands the conversation of what it means to be regarded as an other, discusses visibility, and invites us to reclaim and celebrate our identities.
