Trampled Rose: A Night Carnival For Old Portland says
Long way going to
Get my medicine
Sky's the autumn grey of a lonely wren

Gone tomorrow, gone yesterday

Drugstore cowboys, streetcar poets, dopesick troubadors and strippers turned novelists turned opera stars. Join us under the bridges for an ode to Old Portland, a love song to our bawdy, beautiful, fading city.

Come down to the wrong side of the tracks and help us raucously remember the bootleggers and the lumberjacks, the punks and the prostitutes, the ghosts of Asylum Avenue and the art cars of Alberta Street. Portland is swift-changing, and we may have lost the war on weird, but we’re here to bring it back again with an evening of performances and cocktails inspired by the long and strange history of our beloved town.

Part world-class variety show, part costume party, the NIGHT CARNIVAL is your invitation to drink and dance alongside the city’s finest fringe artists, and enjoy a revue ranging from music and dance, theatre, circus acrobatics, and more.

Come in a costume inspired by our theme of OLD PORTLAND and you may find some surprises and delights awaiting you in our Costume Contest!
