Join us for our reception as we celebrate new works by Victoria Christen: Fences, Boundaries and Borders, in our Back Room.

Victoria's work reflects her personal experience of the world around that surrounds her. The colors, surfaces, markings, and shapes she uses, reference ceramic traditions and the lush Pacific Northwest, but the end products are highly personal: intuitive, flamboyant, unique, full of her voice. Her work also expresses her childhood in Montana and her parents influence on her. Mirroring the creative ways her seamstress mother used color, patterns and tucks to make quilts and clothes for Victoria and her sisters, and her machinist father’s inventive whirligigs and other folk art creations. Her ceramic pieces represent the paradoxes that defined their lives and perhaps those of all humans. They are containers and dispensers, receivers and givers, functional and sculptural, embodiments of freedom and order, creativity and constraint.
