Voices Of The People

Your invited to this Open Mic put on by Occupy Portland! It is called Voices of the People. This this is an all ages, alcohol and drug free event. We have snacks, a raffle drawing, and talented music to enjoy. Doors open at 6:30 and we usually begin the open mic at 7pm! Open mic means people sign up to share their poetry, music, stories, or latest life experiences. I also make a point to announce any other juicy, informative, Occupy meetings. Occupy Portland Events Page Children are welcomed but also know that when our houseless brothers and sisters take the mic things get REAL. I have seen, and surely felt, shared experiences of Portland’s streets. This event has changed me. I have learned that some of the houseless are arrested and charged as sex offenders for urinating outside at 2am. Much of what these individuals have shared sounds like living on the Gaza strip, HERE in our OWN CITY. So some of Voices of the People content is heavy, yet when children are around I do ask people hold back curse words. So now you know this event includes not only fun but real live news!
