Art Exhibit, Theatre and Community Dialogue Explore Impact and Solutions to Youth and Gun Violence
PassinArt: A Theatre Company broke new ground this season, expanding its artistic offerings to a three-part “Art Impacting Community” series called “Our Sons.” Events included a powerful, nationally recognized art exhibit, “Kin Killin Kin” by Ohio artist, James Pate; The Gospel of Lovingkindness, a drama by Marcus Gardley; and dialogues that will be held in conjunction with community partners.

Now that we have had our various dialogues, thank you Self Enhancement Inc., Rosemary Anderson High School, Multnomah County Library (Killingsworth) and Race Talks for gathering families, especially our youth, to healing Dialogues. PassinArt asked PPU to gather all into a Community Conversation to have “the talk” as well as “love each other up” to Summarize our experiences and feelings that came up during these events.

Youth and gun violence has taken a tremendous toll on many of our communities, especially in low income neighborhoods and communities of color. This is true throughout the country, and Portland is no different.
