These #JacarandasEverywhere photos are reason enough to take the scenic route through Pretoria – with cool prizes up for grabs, too.

Pretoria is known for showing off during Jacaranda season. Across neighbourhoods such as Brooklyn, Arcadia and the Moot, established residential streets are lined with mature trees whose purple canopies stretch over roads, pavements and front gardens. Some streets are almost completely covered, while others offer glimpses of purple between rooftops and leafy gardens.
It's part of what makes spring in the capital so distinctive. A familiar drive through the suburbs can turn into a scenic detour, with motorists slowing down to take in the views and residents finding new reasons to photograph the streets they know so well.
For visitors, it's also a good time to see a different side of Pretoria, beyond its landmarks and busy city centre. Not surprisingly, this seasonal appeal has found its way onto social media in the most spectacular way!
We recently teamed up with Jacaranda FM for the launch of Time Out Pretoria to bring you the best things to see, do and experience in the Jacaranda City - including the best streets to see Jacarandas in Pretoria.

We’re absolutely loving the submission so far! Take a look at some of the submissions that show why Pretoria continues to live up to its Jacaranda City nickname.
Petro Perold, Brooklyn
Brooklyn is one of the neighbourhoods where Pretoria's Jacarandas are hard to miss. Petro Perold's photograph captures a residential road framed by purple canopies, with the trees stretching into the distance beneath a clear blue sky.
Marianne Snyman, Pretoria
Marianne Snyman's photograph was taken during a special trip to the capital. She visited Pretoria for her daughter's graduation and found herself surrounded by Jacarandas along the way.
"We went to Pretoria for my daughter's graduation and the street was full of blooming jacaranda trees, just beautiful," she shared.
Angeline Nel, Meyer Street, Pretoria Moot
Meyer Street gets its own purple makeover in Angeline Nel's submission. A row of mature Jacarandas stands along the road, while fallen petals cover the ground beneath them. It's a particularly striking view of the Moot during the season.
Thabang Prudy Motsepe, Eastwood, Arcadia
Thabang Prudy Motsepe's photograph takes us to Eastwood in Arcadia, where the road disappears beneath a canopy of Jacaranda branches. The view captures the scale of the trees and the way they transform an ordinary residential drive into a seasonal attraction.
Linda Espach Meyer, Beckett Street, Arcadia
Linda Espach Meyer's photograph offers another look at Arcadia, this time along Beckett Street. The trees stand together along the roadside, with a thick carpet of purple petals covering the grass beneath them.
Have you captured Pretoria's Jacarandas this season? You can join Jacaranda FM's #JacarandasEverywhere celebration by sharing your photograph on social media, tagging @JacarandaFM and including the hashtag and location of your sighting.
