Following last year’s successful birthday campaign, the Pretoria Zoo is launching the R27 on the 27th of every month special this month, which runs till next September.

The Pretoria Zoo is turning a momentous 127 this month, and to celebrate the communities that have shaped its culture and carried its sustainability, the zoo is continuing the reduced rates tradition.
Until 27 September 2027, patrons of the Pretoria Zoo will be able to access its facilities for just R27 on the 27th of every month.
This is in response to the massive response from the public where the zoo launched a 126th birthday campaign last year, reducing the fees to just R26 on the 26th of every month. The campaign ran from November 2025 till last month.
The campaign enjoyed massive success with the zoo’s patronage spiking by over 60% on promotional days.
The 127th birthday campaign kicks off on Tuesday 27 October and will apply to all admission ticket categories, excluding other paid offerings.
National Zoological Garden of South Africa’s general manager Leslie Mudimeli described the recently ended campaign as a reminder that the Pretoria Zoo's story is shared with the people who visit, learn and make memories.
“Extending this initiative gives more families and schools an opportunity to experience it while engaging with the conservation work that takes place here every day,” he continued.
In addition to experiencing African wild life, the Big 5, exotic species and some of the aquatic life that inhabits the Pretoria Zoo, the facility’s anniversary month also has education and animal care lessons for all ages.
