The best luxury and five-star hotels in Paris (updated 2025)

Palaces, hotels, historic buildings transformed into intimate or XXL luxury guesthouses – in Paris, luxury hotels rarely do things by halves, and always promise haute couture experiences. Whether you have something to celebrate, someone to treat, or just a ton of cash to spend, we’ve selected for you the most mind-blowing hotels in this category – and the standard is (very) high. On the agenda: sleeping among works of art, between centuries-old walls, in massive, enveloping beds; dining in Michelin-starred restaurants or toasting under the stars on top-tier rooftops; getting pampered and unwinding in spas a hundred times bigger than your flat. It’s mostly five-star hotels on this list, but there’s a few four-star spots in there that are worthy of inclusion too.  📍 RECOMMENDED: Ultimate guide to hotels in Paris Which hotels do celebrities stay in in Paris? There is absolutely no reason you should book a stay based on whether or not a famous person has stayed there, but hey, it’s fun to know anyway. It’s pretty fun to know that Beyonce and Jay-Z checked in to the top-floor suite of the Shangri-La in 2016, for example. Or that the Royal Monceau’s Sky Penthouse Suite was where Kim Kardashian was targeted by robbers. But then you’ve got historic hotels like Le Meurice, which has hosted the likes of Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Queen Victoria – and finds itself very high on our list. Go on, take a look.  Who makes the cut? If you didn’t already know, we have a brilliant team

This is officially the most child-friendly city in Europe

Paris is already known as the City of Light and the City of Love, but it can now claim a new moniker thanks to the Clean Cities Campaign: the City of Child-Friendly Infrastructure!  Okay, that doesn’t have quite the same ring as its OG nicknames, but the accolade is backed by data and child-centric urban planning. The Clean Cities Campaign is a climate-friendly transport NGO, and it analysed 36 different European cities on their school streets, safe driving speeds and protected cycling infrastructure. Paris topped the ranking with a score of 75 percent overall thanks to a load of kid-friendly schemes across the city.  Take the streets, for instance. The city has been reclaiming the space around schools to create 220 ‘school streets’, which have gone car-free. Plus, a 30 km/h speed limit is the new norm, and bike lanes are cropping up faster than you can say ‘vélib’. Why? Well, it’s all part of a two-wheeled revolution that’s transforming how Parisians get around. Recommended: The 10 most brilliant things to do with kids in Paris.  But it doesn’t stop there. Paris is greening its schoolyards too: 131 of them have been turned into cool, shady ‘oasis’ playgrounds, and for families, there’s now free public transport for kids, subsidized after-school activities, school supplies handed out from first grade, 100 percent organic meals in crèches, and lunch prices as low as 13 cents for low-income households. What’s more, over 20 schools now offer open-air classrooms, there’s a Langua

Paris Olympics: here’s the full list of metro stations open all night during the opening ceremony

Paris is about to fire the starting gun on the 2024 Olympics, and needless to say whether you’ve nabbed some tickets or are planning on catching a public screening, excitement is mounting for the Games.  A particularly epic way to kick-off the competition if you’re going to be in Paris could be by joining the sprawling, city-wide bar-a-thon. Thanks to a one-off, all-night permit, watering holes across Paris have been licensed to stay open to dawn on the night of the opening ceremony (so until the morning of July 27) which sounds pretty fun, right? The good news is your journey home is covered, too. The RATP is rolling out all-night service on certain stops across lines 1, 4, and 14, and we’ve compiled a list of all the stations keeping the party alive, so pick your route and head back safely.
