Any city’s music scene can be an amalgamation of cliques, trends and urban sounds native to the area’s geographical history. But today, more than any previous era, musicians and artists find themselves at the mercy of the saccharine new normal dictated by the emerging and oft-times brutal social culture. No one can be right and no one can be wrong – hell, it’s hard enough to just ‘be.’ The members of For Strangers & wardens, Thunderegg, Kooties, and Tim Mudd are not here to make any grandiose statements of change, they just want to be. They’re only goal with their collaborative evening of music on April 3rd, 2015 Across The Street at Mueller College in the University Heights neighborhood of San Diego is to deliver an evening of musical variety that will shed light on their individual musical pursuits in the context of something enjoyable for an audience willing to try something a little different than they’re used to without being subjected to anything completely unrelatable. Sure, this little diatribe doesn’t help the cause of making this not seem too high-brow, but the art isn’t. It’s just a group of gifted people doing what they want to do rather than what they’re expected to do. And after all, if the essence of life isn’t taking a chance once in a while, then you may as well stay home and catch-up of your DVR recordings because Lord know’s how scary it is to actually participate in life rather than spectating a re-run…
