Meeting Of The Minds: Music Beyond Entertainment says
Spring marks the start of music festival season. Thousands of people will come together to watch their favorite musicians, experience the thrill of live performance and, to put it simply, be entertained.

But what happens when music goes beyond entertainment? At the next Meeting of the Minds, we’ll explore the power that music can have on our lives; how it can transport you to another continent, change the trajectory of a child’s future and spark controversy about social justice and equality.

Join us on April 14th at The Irenic Theater in North Park where we’ll discover the diverse influences of music during an evening of rapid-fire presentations from some of San Diego’s most provocative musical minds. Talks begin at 7:00 PM.

Confirmed Speakers Include:

Steve Poltz
“Where My Music Has Taken Me” plus a special performance

Dr. Carol Williams
Rebel Rebel: Paying tribute to one of music’s greatest pioneers with a century old instrument

Mónica Mendoza
Uniting female front rockers along the frontera

Brandon “Tiny Doo” Duncan
