Northwest Asian Weekly will host the annual Children’s Parade Contest, featuring dozens of children in festive costumes — from the traditional Korean dress Hanbok to handmade goat costumes. Children’s Parade Competition Schedule: • 11:30 AM — Registration • 1PM — Line up • 1:30 PM — Parade Begins • 2:00 PM — Parade winners announced!!! • Start from Northwest Asian Weekly’s front door, march to main stage • Contestands must be present at the announcement of finalist (1:50PM). • Finalists will bel ined up in numerical order. • All contestands will receive a fortune cookie and lucky candies. Registration/Sign-Up: • You may pre-register for the contest by filling out this application and sending it in or sign-up on the day of the contest (Saturday, February 21) at 11:30a.m. at the registration table. Registration table will be located in front of Seattle Chinese Post/Northwest Asian Weekly - 412 Maynard Ave S. • Contestants are chosen on a first come first serve basis. • Contestants must sign-in at the registration table 15 minutes prior to parade. Rules/Guidelines: • Children ages 12 and under can participate in the contest • Parents are welcome to accompany their children during the Parade • Children will be given a contestant number for order of Parade line up. • Children attire should be culturally relevant to the Lunar New Year Celebration. Judging: • All contestands will be judged by the provided judging critera. • Prizes will be awarded to First ($100), Second ($50), and Third ($25) Place Winners, plus 15 honorable mentions. • All decisions made by competition judges are final.
