21st Annual Celebrating Our Roots Festival

Time Out says
"Celebrating Our Roots" is an annual event that brings together friends and family to honor our heritage and celebrate the unique character of our district and our state.
Washington State's 7th Congressional District is one of the most ethnically diverse districts in the state. Twenty-one years ago at a time of high anti-immigrant rhetoric similar to what the country is experiencing today, I started the Potato Festival – in a salute to my own Irish heritage – as a way to "celebrate our roots" as Americans. The festival sprang from an understanding that we must all honor each other's ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds if we are to become the motto of "E Pluribus Unum" - out of many, one. Potato Fest is held each March around St. Patrick's Day. I hope you can join me!
