Town Hall Seattle says
Bringing the pages of a magazine to life is a tall task, but this “beautiful” (Los Angeles Times) event aims to do just that. This “live magazine” format brings together artists, filmmakers, authors, photographers, actors, and radio personalities for an evening of stories, documentaries, music, new works, and more. Past shows have included bestselling authors like Susan Orlean, Michael Pollan, and Alice Walker; Oscar-winning filmmakers; public-radio personalities from shows like This American Life and Radiolab; famed photographers like Larry Sultan, Richard Misrach, and Autumn de Wilde; and artists and actors from Beck to John C. Reilly. Each edition of Pop-Up Magazine is different (and, since it’s built to be presented live, it’s not recorded)–so you have to attend to experience it. Following the presentation, audience members are invited to the lobby to mix and mingle with the contributors for a Q&A, Pop-Up-style.
