Dma Chamber Recital says
My fourth of five recitals for the University of Washington's DMA in Organ Performance degree. Haydn Wood's Mannin Veen (my transcription of a tone poem originally for wind band and optional organ) will start off the program. For the rest of the program, violinist, Tekla Cunningham, and cellist, Nathan Whittaker, will join me in repertoire from the 19th century Germans, Gustav Adolf Merkel and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. The final work, Rheinberger's Suite for Violin, Cello, and Organ will round off the program nicely and will utilize (along with the rest of the string music) instruments strung with gut and wound gut, as metal strings did not become a fixture until the 1920s or so: well after these pieces were composed. This will truly be a rare treat - so invite your friends!
