Town Hall Seattle says
Sexual assault on college campuses, particularly by assailants the survivor knows, is one of the most common crimes in the United States. Some studies have pegged the rate as high as 1 in 4 women. In recent years, one of the most well-publicized campus rape crises was that of the University of Montana and its football players. Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Under the Banner of Heaven) investigates the sexual assaults that occurred in Missoula, for a broader examination of how universities handle sexual assault, how communities react, and how the justice system failed these women. Krakauer will appear in conversation with KUOW’s Ross Reynolds for a discussion of the stigmatism, victimization, and PTSD faced by survivors—and how his “inexcusable” ignorance on the issue led him to research this epidemic.
