Town Hall Seattle says
Gun violence is a pressing public issue. In 2012, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting brought the debate to an all-time high when 20 children and six adults were killed. Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis was a first grade teacher who, along with her 15 students, survived the tragedy. She’ll share simple steps anyone can take in the face of personal and national tragedies–Purpose, Perspective, Choosing Your Path, Choosing to Overcome, and Choosing Hope. After the massacre, stricter gun control laws were introduced in the state and plans to build a new, better-secured school are underway, but for Roig-DeBellis, individual resilience–passed down from one generation to the next–is the key to moving on.
