MUD by Maria Irene Fornes is: a delicate jewel of a play about passion and yearning; a distillation of lives mired in poverty; a balance of domestic and erotic conflict, cruelty and wit; imbued with a feminism of the most subtle order.

The New City ensemble that recently produced HAMLET returns to the work of Maria Irene Fornes, who directed three of her plays at New City in the late 80's-early 90's. MUD is directed by John Kazanjian with Mary Ewald playing Mae, Tim Gouran as Lloyd, and George Catalano as Henry. Set/Costume design by Nina Moser, Light/Sound by Lindsay Smith.
Staged for an intimate audience of 20 people per night.

Maria Irene Fornes is one of the most important U.S. dramatists of the past 40 years. Playwrights such as Tony Kushner and Caryl Churchill cite her as a major influence, yet she is rarely produced on professional stages. Don't miss this opportunity to witness the unique voice of Maria Irene Fornes.
