A figurehead in the underground NYC scene, Pharmakon (aka Margaret Chardiet) has risen the ranks to become a top performer in the industrial noise world. Having toured Europe with the seminal SWANS, Chardiet has garnered accolades across the board, from a feature in the New Yorker to an 8.4 and "Best New Music" nod from Pitchfork for this year's release Bestial Burden. As she captures our internal struggles, "chaos reigns...an album that sounds like anything but a safe space to inhabit" (Pitchfork) sounding "blissfully discordant with dark seeping in at every corner" (Stereogum); and her live performances are an "onslaught of industrial dirge and ear splitting terror," (Brooklyn Vegan) in which "Chardiet is a duality of a presence, moving between protracted, direct eye contact with her audience, unnerving them, and then periods where she retreats, apparently falling back into herself." (The Quietus)
