Irish Heritage Club of Seattle says
Seattle's Irish Soda Bread Contest is dedicated to the tradition of baking bread leavened with soda instead of yeast. It's free to enter and open to all amateur bakers. Prizes are awarded in each of three categories.

The contest is held each year on a Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. Entries must be dropped off between 12:30 and 1:30pm at T.S. McHugh's Irish Pub, located at 21 Mercer St. in Seattle, WA (between Queen Anne Ave. N. and 1st Ave. N. in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood). Winners will be announced at 3:00pm.

The contest is sponsored by T.S. McHugh's and the Irish Heritage Club.
