About the slam:
Individual World Poetry Slam (IWPS) is a performance poetry competition, designed for an individual poet. Poets from all over the world compete in this competition. In these slams, poets have a different time limit in every round.

Poets must have a four minute, three minute, two minute, and one minute poems to compete. A ten second grace period is added to each limit.

The winner of the FINALS after these preliminary will represent Seattle Poetry Slam at Individual World Poetry Slam in Washington D.C. in October!

About the DOUBLE featured poets:
Symone Ashe & Kiana Davis

Symone Ashley Greene, also known as “Symone Ashe’”, is an artist from Bakersfield, California. She began writing at the age of 12, also discovering a passion for painting in recent years. Symone is currently studying both Consciousness and Cultural Studies at The Evergreen State College. She is a avid practitioner of meditation and yoga, aspiring to someday soon be a teacher of these while traveling the world, and encouraging self-love and growth from spiritual practice.

As Symone evolves and journeys through the universe, she is becoming more conscious through self-improvement, love, and healing and wishes to share this energy with all, including you.

Kiana Davis was born and raised in Richmond, California. She began writing poetry at an early age to grapple with systematic racism and growing up in poverty.

In 2013 she published her first poetry collection Digging For Roots, and in July 2015 her second poetry collection From These Roots Up will be published.
