Seattle Koyasan Buddhist Temple says
It is time to have our first Shugen Walk of the season. ”Shugen Walk” is a walking meditation based on the concept of Shugendo. We walk through the forest, chant the mantras of deities, and reunite with nature.
This walk will be at Heather Lake. We will meet at the Temple at 5:30am and drive to the trailhead, people can also meet us at the trailhead at 6:30am. Drivers will need a Northwest Forest Pass (link in tickets available tab) Anyone getting a ride is encouraged to bring $10 for their driver to help with cost of the pass and fuel. People are encouraged to bring snacks and water, this is a moderate hike of 4.6 mile round trip. if you plan on attending service after the walk and do not live close consider bringing a change of clothes to change into once back at the temple .
