This month’s gathering will discuss the recently published book “Citizen: An American Lyric” by Jamaica-born poet Claudia Rankine. Critics describe the book as “marrying prose, poetry, and the visual image... Citizen investigates the ways in which racism pervades daily American social and cultural life, rendering certain of its citizens politically invisible” and struggling to survive. Come talk about the ideas Rankine presents and what can be done to combat white supremacy on an individual and collective level.
