Spin the Bottle says
As horrific tragedies and ridiculous charades flood the American public consciousness, even more are happening in our own backyard. In the Dominican Republic, hundreds of thousands of people of Haitian descent—some of these people were born in the D.R.—have been “found” to be unable to meet documentation requirements so they face immediate deportation. Some came to the Dominican Republic following the 2010 earthquake for opportunities to live and work, and no longer have a home in Haiti. The government will now tell them what their home is, but what if the government is wrong? “Home” is confusing no matter which way you slice it: is it where you were born? your ancestors’ birthplaces? which one? what about your friends where you live now? is it where you’ve made a life and grown into the person you are now?

We are home when we are in our selves, in our light. During Summer Solstice we celebrate that light, as it emanates throughout the world. It is during these long days as I reflect on everything I have accomplished already in the past six months, that I recognize how lucky I am to have a home. I am at home in Seattle, in Capitol Hill, and at Annex Theatre. This July, SPIN THE BOTTLE returns home with a delightful pastiche of classic and favorite performers:

KATE FARRELL sweetly sings summer songs!

A short film by VOX FABULI PUPPETS!

HATTIE HELLKAT and WOODY SHTICKS are Art Activists!

The return of BEN LAURANCE!

A moving musing by JOEL DALE!

When two become one ERIN!

A snippet of VICTOR VICTORIA!

and smut by EMMETT MONTGOMERY!

Balanced in perfect sunshine and twilight by co-hosts BRUCE HALL and LISA VERTEIL!
