Sy Montgomery: Examining An Octopus’ Character, Intellect

Town Hall Seattle says
As our closest relative in the animal kingdom, primates have proved their intelligence, but other creatures–including the “alien animals” called octopuses–are thought to lack the same level of smarts. But in The Soul of an Octopus, investigative journalist Sy Montgomery (The Good Pig), explores these mysterious cephalopods and argues just how caring, smart, and (if The Seattle Aquarium’s Giant Pacific Octopus is any judge) daring they can be. She’ll share anecdotes from her time with different octopuses (her observations in a New England aquarium, how she learned to dive to observe them in the wild) and make a case for why these often-overlooked creatures deserve our love, respect, and perhaps most importantly, friendship.
