Town Hall Seattle says
Dating back to the Enlightenment, the Age of Discovery, and even the fall of the Roman Empire, seeds have had an enormous impact on the course of human history. In The Triumph of Seeds, biologist and Guggenheim fellow Thor Hanson (author of Feathers) returns to Town Hall for another glimpse at one of earth’s tiniest, yet most important resources–the seed. Hanson will detail their influence throughout time (cottonseed’s sway on the Industrial Revolution, wheat’s key role in the Arab Spring) and make a case for why seeds deserve more attention. From a morning cup of coffee, to the clothes we wear and the paper we write on, seeds are everywhere–and Hanson will shine a light on the seed’s multi-faceted presence in our lives.
