CoCA (Center on Contemporary Art) says
CoCA Lab: Artist in Residence program continues this Saturday with ilvs strauss, an analytical chemist turned multi-disciplinary performance artist and theater tech living and making work in Seattle. Her art ranges from haiku poetry, to anamorphic outdoor sculptures, illustrated storytelling, to Dance Narrative performance.

"This project, The Book of Teal, is about the color teal. I'll be researching different aspects of the color and detailing what I find in chapters, to be collected in a final book. Studies and investigations will culminate in a live, solo dance-based performance. But instead of the lights supporting me as a performer, it will be me as performer supporting the lights."

We are also pleased to present Michelle de la Vega's kinetic sculpture, FROM ONE TO ANOTHER. Inspired by Patricia Ledesma who, when diagnosed with ovarian cancer, uprooted her garden of plants to give to the Tashiro Kaplan artist housing rooftop garden. When touched the sculpture reverberates with shimmering sound. This piece is currently on view on top of CoCA UN[contained] as part of the extended 35 Live Members' Show.

One night only event: Saturday, April 9, 6-9pm
