Town Hall Seattle says
When Bosnia-Herzegovina declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1992, it sparked what’s now known as the Bosnian Genocide–more than 100,000 civilians were killed in the three years that followed. 20 years later, Voices of Bosnian Genocide is leading a commemorative event to remember the lives lost. Congressman Jim McDermott, Representative Joan McBride, Real Estate mogul Senada Adžem, and Vedad Mahmulyin, Boeing’s Engineer of the Year, will lead this reflective event. Learn more about the years following the genocide and get a glimpse at the future of the Bosnian community. McDermott will also be awarded the 2015 VOBG Community Service Award, for his support and contributions to the Bosnian-American community in and around his district.
