Missouri History Museum says
On August 11, 1866, forty-seven individuals met at the Old Courthouse and voted to organize a historical society “for the purpose of saving from oblivion the early history of the city and state.”

To commemorate the Missouri Historical Society's 150th anniversary, Karen Goering, managing director of administration and operations, looks back at the history of the Society, from its early days looking for a building to call home, to its first exhibits, to its expansion into the institution it is today.
