Swiss-resident and performance artist Yan Duyvendak puts on a dazzling musical with Broadway trained performers.
‘The Sound of Music’, co-produced by La Bâtie festival in Geneva, stops for five electrifying performances at Vidy Theatre in Lausanne. Directed by Swiss performance artist Yan Duyvendak, it’s a shot of adrenaline before winter gets on its way.
The show is a little gem of entertainment, with Broadway-trained performers in a dazzling choreography by Olivier Dubois and the typical feel-good moments of a musical. But it doesn’t attempt to hide that behind the glitter and glitz, life goes on. Duyvendak wants us to think unemployment, climate change and techno-addiction, while we are entertained by his marvelous performers.
A musical as social manifesto that is enjoyable as well.
